Technology is at the forefront of all dental care. Here at Lakewood Family Dental Care, having the latest in dental technology at our clinic is key to providing our patients with the highest quality of care. From diagnosing potential issues to treating problems with the teeth, tongue, jaw, and gums, here is a look at some of the technology we use at our dental clinic.
An intraoral camera is a technology that allows the dentist to get a live view of a patient’s mouth. The camera is connected to a computer that allows the dentist to capture digitally enhanced images in real-time. With the aid of an intraoral camera, the dentist can see things that otherwise would not be visible to the naked eye. This allows for more accurate diagnosis and treatment.
Another use of the intraoral camera is educating patients about the effects of poor oral hygiene. Using the camera, the dentist can show patients a view of their mouths and point out areas of concern or teach them important aspects of oral hygiene.
At our office, we use the advanced iTero®️ digital scanner to make your dental experience faster, more comfortable, and more precise. The iTero scanner creates highly accurate 3D digital impressions of your teeth and gums—eliminating the need for messy traditional molds.
This technology is ideal for procedures like Invisalign®️ treatment, crowns, bridges, and more. With iTero, we can show you real-time simulations of your smile transformation and ensure better-fitting restorations with improved turnaround times.
Benefits of the iTero®️ Scanner include:
We’re proud to offer modern technology like iTero to deliver excellent quality care with your comfort in mind.
Everyone knows the traditional x-ray, those flat images taken of your bones. Thanks to computer-aided technology, we can now take digital x-rays of a patient’s mouth from multiple angles. This is faster than traditional x-rays, but digital x-rays offer greater detail, allowing the dentist to diagnose and treat patients more effectively.
Dentists often work inside a patient’s mouth to treat gum disease and perform root canals and other treatments. While traditional dental tools are sometimes necessary for treatment, soft tissue lasers have made much of what dentists do faster, safer, and less painful.
Soft tissue lasers can perform certain dentistry treatments better than hand tools. Treatments such as removing the decay and debris from a cavity, cleaning or contouring the gum tissue, and removing plaque and bacteria can all be done with a laser in less time and with less discomfort.
